RICK KYTE RELEASES NEW BOOK IDEAS UNITE, ISSUES DIVIDE; BOOK SIGNINGS TO BE HELD SEPT. 24 AND OCT. 10

LA CROSSE, Wis. – Rick Kyte, director of the D.B. Reinhart Institute for Ethics in Leadership at Viterbo University, will hold two book signings for his latest book, Ideas Unite, Issues Divide: Essays on the Ethical Life.

The signing events are scheduled for 7–8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Bramble Bookstore in Viroqua and from 5–7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at Pearl Street Books in La Crosse.

Ideas Unite, Issues Divide is a collection of popular columns entitled “The Ethical Life” published in the La Crosse Tribune from October 2009–June 2013.

“The essays published in this volume are an attempt to explore some basic ideas that may help in navigating a common course through an increasingly complex and contentious world,” Kyte writes in the book’s preface. “Even people who are strongly divided by their opinions on controversial issues may be united in a shared commitment to basic ideas underlying their opinions.”

In addition to his work with the Ethics Institute, Kyte teaches philosophy at Viterbo and is a member of the La Crosse Tribune Editorial Board and the La Crosse County Ethics Board. He earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from the Johns Hopkins University in 1994. Before coming to Viterbo University in 2000, he taught at Christian Brothers University in Memphis and Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Mich.

Kyte is also the author of An Ethical Life: A Practical Guide to Ethical Reasoning, a book written to be accessible to the general reader interested in learning more about the field of ethics and as an introductory college textbook. It was published in 2012.

Ideas Unite, Issues Divide is available for purchase at the Viterbo University bookstore, Bramble Bookstore in Viroqua, Pearl Street Books in La Crosse, and amazon.com. Learn more about the book at www.ideasunite.org.
