Academic Advising

Information Literacy

Information literacy is one of the foundation requirements and will be developed in English 103, 104, 105 or 195. Students who have not met this requirement can take a one-credit information literacy course (UNST 301) or another course that fulfills this requirement. Students may also be able to test out of this requirement. More information is available on the Viterbo University Core Curriculum page.

Information Literacy Test-out Procedure

Transfer students may be able to test out of UNST301 if they have completed a course specifically in information literacy at another college or university or have otherwise met the information fluency foundations of UNST 301. Placing out of UNST301 requires that students submit a portfolio, consisting of an essay, two sample assignments and bibliography assignment, with a $25 fee.
