Labor Day Weekend Activities
September 4 - September 7, 2015
With no classes on Labor Day, students are looking for things to do. The Office of Campus Activities offers free on-and off-campus programming for students to stay active during their first weekend after classes begin. Click hereto see the activity flyer.
Friday Friar Fry (6 p.m., Assissi Courtyard): Come for a free backyard BBQ and yard games. (Rain Location: Brophy 123)
Lunch in Riverside Park (Meet in Student Union at 10:30 a.m.): Meet as a group to walk to Riverside park and enjoy a sack lunch (free for students not on a meal plan).
Downtown Scavenger Hunt (11:30 a.m., Various Locations): Explore La Crosse with this interactive scavenger hunt. Clues will lead participants to a variety of downtown locations to try an activity or sample a treat. This is not a race, students can take their time and see what the downtown area has to offer.
La Crosse Queen Cruise (3:15 p.m., Riverside Park): Join for a 1.5 hour Mississippi River sight-seeing tour from the La Crosse Queen, a paddlewheel river boat. Participants will be treated to pizza and beverages while on the cruise.
Wisconsin Badger Football Game Viewing (7 p.m., Hawk's Nest): Hang out in the Hawk's Nest and watch the Wisconsin Badgers take on the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Outdoor Movie (8 p.m., Marian Courtyard): Enjoy a warm summer night and watch a movie on the outdoor screen. The "Class of 2019" group chose MEAN GIRLS! (Rain Location: Student Union)
Learn the City Bus (Meet in Student Union at 10:20 a.m.): Travel to the Valley View Mall to learn how to use the La Crosse city bus system, which students can use for free by showing their student ID, as well as do some last minute school shopping.
Mathy Center Open from 12 - 6 p.m.
Black River Beach: Time to take advantage of the warm summer weather and visit one of La Crosse's popular beaches. A shuttle bus will pick up passengers from the Student Union at 1 p.m. AND 3 p.m. The final return trip from the beach will be at 5 p.m. back to campus.
Mathy Center Open from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Service at the Villa (1-4 p.m., Meet in Student Union at 12:30 p.m.): Helping hands are needed at Villa St. Joseph, a retirement home for Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration. The Villa property includes large gardens taht produce food for the Villa and St. Rose Convent (adjacent to Viterbo).
