MOSCOW FESTIVAL BALLET TO PERFORM GISELLE AT VITERBO UNIVERSITY JAN. 23
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The acclaimed Moscow Festival Ballet returns to Viterbo University to perform the popular Romantic ballet Giselle at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23 in the Fine Arts Center Main Theatre.
Giselle is the tragic story of a peasant girl who falls in love with a Count who is betrothed to another woman.
The Moscow Festival Ballet was founded in 1989 when legendary principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet Sergei Radchenko sought to realize his vision of a company that would bring together the highest classical elements of the great Bolshoi and Kirov Ballet companies in an independent new company that displays the finest of Russian classic ballet. Leading dancers from across Russia perform with this exciting company, which has staged new productions of timeless classics such as Giselle, Don Quixote, Paquita, and Carmen.
Since its inception, the Moscow Festival Ballet has toured extensively throughout the U.S., Europe, and Asia and has performed at some of the world’s greatest music festivals. The Moscow Festival Ballet continues to expand its repertoire.
Giselle is part of Viterbo’s Bright Star season and is sponsored by In*Tech Integrated Marketing Services and in part by a grant from the Wisconsin Arts Board with funds from the State of Wisconsin and the National Endowment for the Arts. Mid-West Family Broadcasting is the media sponsor.
Tickets are $38 for main floor, $34 for lower balcony, and $28 for upper balcony seating. For tickets, contact the Viterbo box office at 608-796-3100 or visit www.viterbo.edu/tickets.
