Celebrate Love EVERY Body Week Jan. 15–19

By Amanda Albert, Viterbo wellness intern

Love EVERY Body is a weeklong event hosted by Viterbo rec sports. Take this week to show love for your body by engaging in healthy activities led by trained professionals. We want to honor everyone throughout the week by sharing the message that bodies come in all shapes and sizes. Even if you choose not to participate in activities this week, we ask you to promote a healthy body image and body confidence to the Viterbo community, especially the students.

The schedule of events:

Monday: Positive Messages – all day in the Mathy Center or the Caf. Write positive messages for Viterbo community members that will be hung over the mirrors in the fitness center to remind everyone to have positive self-awareness.

Tuesday: Yoga Supersession – 7–8:30 p.m. in the Mathy Center multipurpose room. Great for beginners and advanced yogis, attend this extra-long yoga session at which you could win free yoga gear.

Wednesday: Body Composition Testing and Health Screenings – noon–2 p.m. in the Student Development Center. Health services will conduct blood pressure, blood sugar, and oxygen readings. Fitness specialists will use the Tanita scale to find body composition, indicating the percentage of your body that is fat versus lean mass, as well as water content, and many other numbers that provide a great baseline or follow up measure to use for comparison. Testing will be done in a private space with fitness professionals to interpret the numbers and answer questions.

Thursday: Small Group Training – 6–7 p.m. in the Mathy Center gymnasium. Personal trainers will lead a boot camp style workout within small groups utilizing partner exercises. Resistance bands and rec sports blender bottles will be given away as prizes.

Friday: Body Composition Testing – 10 a.m.–noon in the Mathy Center second floor conference room. Did you miss the first round of body composition testing? Fitness specialists will give you another chance to find out these important numbers for your health.

Friday: Zumbathon with VU After Dark – 9 p.m. in Mathy Center gymnasium. Have fun and feel comfortable in your own skin as you shake, shimmy, and dance to these Latin jams. All levels and abilities are welcome in this class. Zumba gear will be raffled and snacks will be provided.
