How did this project come together?
Community members were identified in collaboration with Couleecap, the La Crosse Coalition to End Homelessness, and other local agencies. Students in a Western Technical College Human Services class interviewed the community members and transcribed their stories. The transcriptions and video/audio recordings of the interviews were shared with students in a UW-La Crosse writing class, who then wrote up these stories and turned them into a digital book. The book, interview transcripts and recordings were then shared with students in a Viterbo theatre class. The Viterbo theatre students, in collaboration with professors David Gardiner and Jeff Stolz, created and produced a performance which includes the spoken word, scripted scenes, and multimedia pieces using visual projections and live music. A freewill offering will be accepted. Money collected will go directly to the La Crosse Coalition to End Homelessness and Couleecap.
