VITERBO TO PRESENT ROALD DAHL’S JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH AT THE WEBER CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS APRIL 21–22, 28–29
LA CROSSE, Wis. – Viterbo University will present the musical James and the Giant Peach at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21–Sunday, April 22 and Saturday, April 28–Sunday, April 29 at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts.
When James is sent by his conniving aunts to chop down their old fruit tree, he discovers a magic potion that results in a tremendous peach—and launches a journey of enormous proportions. Based on the famous book by Roald Dahl, James and the Giant Peach features a score by Tony® and Oscar®-winning composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and guarantees to capture the heart and imagination of the whole family.
“James and the Giant Peach is a delightful musical about a young boy and his journey through life with wonderful characters,” said Elizabeth Margolius, the director of the production. “It’s a fun and imaginative tale people of all ages will enjoy. And the music contains many catchy, hummable tunes from a mixture of genres. It’s very enjoyable and easy on the ears.”
Margolius is an accomplished professional stage and movement director based in Chicago. She is joined by Viterbo faculty member Nancy Allen, who is serving as the music director for the production.
“I am so enjoying working with this cast of Viterbo students,” Margolius said. “They are extraordinarily talented and even more importantly, they are very open to exploring their roles and craft. They are kind and supportive of one another, and me. The entire process has been a delight.”
James and the Giant Peach features words and music by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, book by Timothy Allen McDonald, and is based on the book of the same name by Roald Dahl. It is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International (MTI).
