Viterbo University Announces 2017 Recipients of the Saint John XXIII Award for Distinguished Service

Darryle Clott, a Holocaust educator who has played a crucial role in bringing Holocaust survivors to the La Crosse area to share their incredible and inspiring stories, and Dick and Sheila Wieser, outstanding advocates for children and people facing challenging circumstances, are the recipients of the Viterbo University 2017 Saint John XXIII Award for Distinguished Service.

Relive the famous speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as renowned orator Nucleus Johnson presents “Echoes of a King” as part of the La Crosse Community Annual Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17 in the Viterbo University Fine Arts Center Main Theatre. The event was rescheduled from Jan. 16 due to inclement weather.

More than $11,800 Awarded to Area Schools to Attend Performances at Viterbo University

Viterbo University, with financial assistance from Macy’s and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Wisconsin and Southeastern Minnesota, has awarded over $11,800 to area schools to help offset the costs of field trips to see performances at the university.

Registration Open for Viterbo University's Franciscan Core Summer Service Camp

Viterbo University will host Franciscan CORE, a five-day summer service camp for high school students entering 10th, 11th, and 12th grades in the fall who are interested in Catholic Social Teaching and serving their communities. The residential program takes place Sunday, June19 through Friday, June 24.

Marjorie Collins, a longtime philanthropist who founded Collins Outdoor Advertising Inc. with her late husband Charles; Celesta Day, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration who has spent her entire career and life in ministry making a positive impact on the organizations she has served; and Don and Norma Vinger, supporters of numerous community causes, are the recipients of the Viterbo University 2016 Saint John XXIII Award for Distinguished Service.
