Music Theatre

Music Theatre at Viterbo

Being a music theatre artist involves more than acting, singing, and dancing. It requires drive, perseverance, and a solid understanding of scene study, music theatre history, music theory, the business of theatre, and theatre production.

Viterbo’s music theatre classes are led by a faculty of talented, accomplished, and professionally active artists who provide expert instruction in acting, voice, singing, dance, movement, text analysis, and music. An 8:1 student-teacher ratio ensures that students get the personal attention they need to develop their individual voice and have the skills needed to succeed in theatre and in life. Students learn how to feel comfortable and confident not only on stage but more importantly during auditions. Music theatre majors are given three semesters of “how to get the job” and six semesters of “what to do when you have the job.”

With a music theatre degree from Viterbo University, graduates are ready to entertain people of all ages as professional music theatre artists on Broadway, television, cruise ships, tours, and regional theatres.

Ashley Pankow

“Being able to work with professional faculty molded me and truly prepared me as a professional actor. I was also encouraged to be the actor/singer/dancer I am, not the mold I should fit in. Numerous producers and directors have asked where I went for my acting training. I'm proud to say I went to Viterbo University.”
