Alex Escobar Prado, from Guatemala, is a primary school teacher in a rural village near Mataquescuintla, Jalapa. He is also a member of Youth Organized in Defense of Life’s community education team, which conducts trainings to build youth leadership to protect the environment, raise awareness about the dangers of deforestation and mining in the area, and educate their community on the importance of protecting waterways in Santa Rosa and Jalapa, where small scale agriculture is the main source of income and a way of life.
